LIONS COMPLETE SWEEP OF UNION WITH 14-2 ROUT

JACKSON, Tenn. -- Kyle Hubbuch went three-for-four with two home runs and five runs batted in and Devan Traglia allowed just six hits in a complete-game win as North Alabama completed a three-game sweep of Union, 14-2.

The Lions, now 27-15 overall and 18-9 in the Gulf South Conference, scored four runs in the first inning and pushed their lead to 12-0 before the Bulldogs could get on the scoreboard.

Traglia (5-1) pitched seven complete innings, allowing just two runs on six hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. It was his third complete game of the season.

With two outs in the first inning, Drake Tucker singled and Hubbuch doubled him in. A Peyton Sockwell triple made it 2-0 and tate Mathis walked and stole second. A Logan Carter double drove in two runs to make it 4-0.

The Lions added four more runs in the third inning, beginning with a solo homer from Hubbuch. Sockwell and Mathis followed with singles and Carter slapped a three-run homer to make it 8-0.

In the fourth inning, UNA scored three more times. Davis Elliott single and Tucker walked in front of Hubbuch's second home run of the day and 10th of the season.

With UNA leading 11-0, the Lions got a single run in the top of the sixth as Tucker singled and later scored on a Sockwell RBI-single.

Union got on the board in the bottom of the sixth with two runs on two hits and were aided by a UNA error.

The Lions added two more runs  in the top of the seventh as Ben Cooley tripled and scored on a Chris Blakey RBI-single. A triple by Elliott drove in Blakey with the final run of the day.

The game was stopped after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

Hubbuch, Elliott, Sockwell and Carter had three hits each in the game.

Union is now 26-15 overall and 15-11 in the GSC.
