MEMPHIS, Tenn., – Brittany Panetti scored 23 points to lead the University of North Alabama women's basketball team to a 64-43 victory at Christian Brothers on Thursday. The win gives the Lions a 19-2 record on the season with a 12-2 mark in Gulf South Conference play.

UNA used another solid defensive effort on the night, holding host CBU to 24 percent shooting from the floor and out-rebounding the Lady Bucs 53-35.

Christian Brothers was held scoreless for the first 7:49 of playing time as the Lions built a 14-0 lead. Panetti scored 13 points in the first quarter as UNA established control early.

After CBU pulled within six points midway through the second quarter, North Alabama closed the half on a 13-6 run to take a 33-20 lead into the break.

Two quick baskets by Panetti in the third quarter was followed by three straight layups by Emma Wallen as the Lions used a 10-0 run to start the second half. CBU was unable to get the lead under 20 points the rest of the way.

Savannah Stults connected on a pair of three-point baskets and finished with 13 points for the Lions. Wallen added 10 points while Michaela DeKilder turned in a game-high 14 rebounds.

Courtney Banks led Christian Brothers (8-12 overall, 7-7 GSC) with 11 points.

UNA will play at Union on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on the UU campus in Jackson, Tenn.
