HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama got its sixth straight win as the 27
th ranked Lions downed Alabama A&M 10-5.
The win pushes UNA's overall record to 26-12, while Alabama A&M falls to 7-27.
UNA scored four runs in the second inning and never trailed, even though the Lions were out-hit 14 to eight by the Bulldogs. The Lions added a run in the third to go up 5-0 before A&M got two in the bottom of the third. UNA made it 7-2 in the top of the fourth but A&M answered again with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
North Alabama scored a single run in the sixth and added two more in the seventh for the final 10-5 count.
Bryant Claunch, the first of five UNA pitchers in the game, got his third win of the season (3-0). He pitched two innings and allowed no runs on three hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Peyton Sockwell and
Kevin Brenning led UNA with two hits each and Sockwell and
Brandt Holland drove in two runs each.
UNA plays a three-game Gulf South Conference series this weekend at Christian Brothers in Memphis.
