CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The University of North Alabama managed just one run on four hits in its final game of pool play at the Gulf South Conference Baseball Tournament as the Lions fell to West Alabama 3-1.
With the loss, UNA ended the tournament 0-3 and failed to advance to the championship round.
The Lions are now 31-20 overall.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when West Alabama got a two-run home run from Luke Phillips. The Tigers only other run came on a solo homer by Brock Montgomery in the sixth.
North Alabama was held scoreless until the ninth when
Brandt Holland hit a leadoff home run to make it 3-1.
UNA starter
Lane Wallace (6-7) took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings.
Bryant Claunch and
Jonathan Cook each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
