SOFTBALL LIONS FALL 2-0 AT TROY

TROY – Troy's Leanna Johnson pitched a two-hit shutout as the University of North Alabama softball team dropped a 2-0 road decision on Wednesday. With the loss, UNA falls to 15-10 on the season and will return to ASUN play over the weekend with a three-game series at Stetson.
 
Against the Trojans, UNA could not find its offense. The Lions went down in order in five of the seven innings on the day. Veronica Westfall singled in the top of the second inning and Harley Stokes singled in the fifth. Both runners, however, were left stranded as Johnson improved to 14-5 on the season.
 
Troy put together single run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. The Trojans got a infield single to lead off the fourth and later scored on an RBI-ground out. In the fifth an unearned run off a UNA throwing error made the score 2-0.
 
Michelle Moore (2-2) took the pitching loss. She was one of three UNA pitchers to see action in the circle.
 
UNA will play a double-header at Stetson on Saturday before wrapping the series with a single game the following day.
