UNA WOMEN POST 75-61 WIN AT JACKSONVILLE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., – A dominating third quarter paved the way for the University of North Alabama women's basketball team on Saturday in a 75-61 ASUN Conference win at Jacksonville. Olivia Noah scored a game-high 20 points and Sakyia White added a double-double as the Lions improved to 4-10 on the season and 3-2 in league play.
 
UNA trailed 32-31 at the half, but opened the third quarter on a 22-0 run to take control. Jacksonville missed 10 straight shots from the floor and had five turnovers as the Lions built a 53-32 lead.
 
White started the scoring for the Lions with a basket early in the period to give UNA the lead for good. The freshman from Tuscaloosa had six points during the spree. Noah followed with back-to-back three-point baskets. Jaida Bond capped the run with a trey from the left wing to give the Lions the 21-point advantage.
 
After a basket by the Dolphins with 3:21 remaining in the third quarter broke the scoring drought, UNA added seven straight points to grab its largest lead of the day. Noah connected on a layup and two free throws while Bond hit another three-pointer in the corner to give North Alabama a 60-34 lead.
 
Jacksonville closed the quarter on a 10-0 run. The 29-12 third-quarter advantage marked just the third time this season UNA has outscored an opponent in the period. The Lions led 60-44 heading into the fourth quarter.
 
JU closed the gap to 10 points late in the game. After a three-point basket by the Dolphins made the score 71-61 at the 1:57 mark, Jaila Roberts answered with a basket. She then drove the lane and found White for the game's final points.
 
Bond finished the game 4-of-8 from three-point range. She turned in 19 points. White had 17 points and 11 rebounds for her third career double-double. Roberts rounded out the top scorers for UNA with 11 points and eight assists.
 
Erin Wilson led Jacksonville (2-6 overall, 0-3 ASUN) with 17 points.
 
UNA will play another game at Jacksonville on Sunday. Tip-off is set for noon (CST) at Swisher Gymnasium on the JU campus.
