FLORENCE – Four players reached double digits in scoring as the University of North Alabama women's basketball team knocked off Bellarmine 89-76 Monday afternoon at Flowers Hall. The second straight win gives the Lions a 7-15 overall record with a 6-7 mark in ASUN Conference play.
Jaida Bond led all scorers with 24 points while Olivia Noah came off the bench to score 16 points for the Lions, who started four true freshmen for the second straight game.
UNA had to overcome an early double-digit deficit to get the win. Bellarmine opened the game on a 29-18 run and led 31-21 after a basket at the end of the first quarter. The Lions, however, outscored the visitors in each of the next three periods.
Bond opened the second quarter with consecutive three-point baskets and scored eight points during an 11-0 run. Noah then connected from three-point range before a runner by Bond gave UNA its first lead of the day at 32-31 with 7:35 remaining.

The teams traded baskets before Jaila Roberts drove the lane for a layup as time expired to make the score 44-41 at the break.
The Knights led by as many as five on three different occasions early in the third quarter. After a Bellarmine three-pointer gave the visitors a 51-46 lead, the Knights went nearly three minutes without scoring. Five different UNA players then scored during an 11-0 run.
A three-pointer by Macey Lee gave the Lions a 57-51 lead midway through the third quarter. Bellarmine closed the gap to a single point, but could never tie or take the lead. Another trey by Noah at the buzzer gave UNA a 66-61 lead heading into the final period.
Bellarmine again closed the gap to a single point early in the fourth quarter before a late UNA run stretched the lead to double digits. Two free throws by Alexis Callins and a putback by Sakyia White gave the Lions a five-point lead before Bond hit another three-pointer, then converted a three-point play with a basket and free throw to make the score 79-68 with 4:51 remaining.
The Knight added two free throws to cut the deficit to single digits, before another basket by White and two free throws by Roberts pushed the lead to 83-70 at the 3:50 mark. Bellarmine would get no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
Roberts finished the game with 13 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds to just miss a triple-double. White turned in her seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and 16 rebounds.
