FLORENCE, Ala. – North Alabama struggled offensively and managed just one run on three hits as the Lions dropped a 5-1 decision to UT-Martin at Mike Lane Field.
The Skyhawks built a 5-0 lead and held the Lions hitless through six and a third innings before
Austin Thrasher broke up the no-hitter and shutout with a solo home run to left field.That would prove to be UNA's only run.
With the loss, UNA is now 1-9. UTM improved to 4-6.
The Skyhawks got a run in the second inning, two in the third and one in the fifth, all off UNA starter
Will Haberstock (0-2). He took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits over four complete innings.
Austin Emener came on in relief and allowed one run on three walks in two and a third innings. Five other UNA pitchers combined to shutout the Skyhawks over the final two and two-thirds innings.
In addition to Thrasher's home run, UNA got a double from
Devne Daniel and a single from
Reid Homan.
UNA opens ASUN Conference play on Friday with a three-game series at Liberty.
