LOUISVILLE, Ky., – For the second time in 11 days, the University of North Alabama men's tennis team overcame a late deficit to rally for a 4-3 ASUN Conference win over Bellarmine. Trailing 3-1, UNA won three straight singles matches to improve to 4-10 overall and 2-2 in league play.

UNA, which also beat the Knights 4-3 on March 21 in Florence, followed a similar script in the road rematch on Thursday. The Lions again had to battle back after losing the doubles point. The deficit was then 2-0 after the home team posted a win at No. 2 singles.

Carlos Matarredona gave UNA its first point with a 7-5, 6-3 win at the top singles position. A Bellarmine victory at No. 3, however, put the Knights one point away from clinching the match.

The consecutive wins came in the bottom of the singles lineup for the Lions. Andreas Hansen was first, with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot. Jamie Bixby followed with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 5. His 7-5 tiebreaking victory in the opening set proved to be important.

Just as he did in the first meeting against Bellarmine, Cade Reasons clinched the match for the Lions by rallying for a win at No. 6 singles. The junior from Jackson, Tenn., won his fourth straight match with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 triumph.

UNA will continue ASUN play at Liberty on Saturday. Match time is set for 1 p.m. on the LU campus in Lynchburg, Va.
