DAVIDSON, N.C. -- North Alabama held a 4-2 lead early but couldn't hold it as Davidson rallied for a 6-4 win over the Lions.
With the loss, UNA is now 4-19, while Davidson improved to 15-9.
Davidson got two runs in the bottom of the first inning before UNA got a run in the second and three in the third to take a 4-1 lead. Davidson quickly answered with three runs of its own in the bottom of the third and added an insurance run in the fourth for a 6-4 advantage.
Neither team scored over the final five innings.
UNA was limited to three hits in the game and each side made three errors.
UNA starter
Chase Best (1-4) took the loss, allowing five runs, just two earned, over three innings.
Reliever
Austin Nichols pitched the final five innings and allowed just one run on three hits.
With UNA trailing 2-0 in the second inning,
Reid Homan was hit-by-pitch, stole second and later scored on an error following a
Levi Jensen single.
In the third,
Drew Hudson singled, stole second and scored when
Kylan Barnett reached on an error to tie the game.
Peyton Thomas walked and Barnett scored the go-ahead run on an RBI sac bunt by Homan.
With Thomas on base,
Austin Thrasher was hit-by-pitch and
Kevin Brenning walked to load the bases. Jensen then walked to force in a run and give UNA a 4-2 lead.
Hudson, Thomas and Jensen had one hit each in the game.
The final game of the series is set for noon Sunday start.
