FLORENCE, Ala. -- A goal by
Tay Cavett in the 49th minute put North Alabama in striking distance but the Lions couldn't close the gap as UNA dropped a 2-1 decision to Kennesaw State in ASUN Conference women's soccer action.
With the loss, North Alabama closed its regular season with a 1-8-2 overall record and a 0-6-2 ASUN mark. Kennesaw State is now 6-7 overall and 5-3 in the ASUN.
Tianna Rivera scored Kennesaw State's first goal at the 18:01 mark and Erin Harris made it 2-0 with a goal at 47:01.
UNA got its lone goal just over a minute later as
Tay Cavett scored off a ball put in the box by
Kate Wiseman at 48:11.
North Alabama goalkeeper
Savannah Stewart recorded two saves.
The Owls out shot UNA 11-8.
The Lions will now advance to the first round of the ASUN Conference Tournament on April 7 and will travel to either Liberty or Bellarmine.
