VOLLEYBALL LIONS SWEEP ALABAMA A&M

FLORENCE – Katy Floyd hit .522 and had 13 kills to lead the University of North Alabama volleyball team to a 3-0 home win over Alabama A&M Tuesday afternoon at Flowers Hall. With the 25-14, 25-16, 25-12 victory, UNA improves to 5-7 on the season, including wins in three of the last four matches.
 
In the first meeting against the Bulldogs since 1995, UNA hit .375 as a team and recorded 12 service aces. Floyd, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., had three aces on the night to finish with a match-high 16 points.
 
Breylee Linder had 31 assists while AK Griggs and Maggie Sullivan added seven kills each. Katie Gerig also recorded 14 digs on the night.
 
With Wednesday's home match against Middle Tennessee postponed, UNA will have a seven-day break and will return to action on Sept. 21, at Alabama A&M. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Elmore Gymnasium in Huntsville.
