FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama volleyball team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 home sweep over Alcorn State Thursday evening at Flowers Hall. Katy Floyd led the way with nine kills and 10 digs in the 25-15, 25-18, 25-17 victory.

UNA, now 1-3 on the year, will next head to Nashville, Tenn., for matches on consecutive days at the Music City Invitational.

On Thursday, Maggie Sullivan and AK Griggs added seven kills each. Sullivan hit a match-high .500 on the night. Two players reached double figures in assists, including Breylee Linder's 20 and Camy Kling's 11 for the Lions.

Kamryn Parsonage finished the match with 10 points, including six kills and four service aces to tie a UNA single-match record at the Division I level. Three other players have reached four aces in a single match since the Lions made the move to Division I prior to the 2018 season.

Defensively, Mattrice Harris also had five blocks for UNA.

UNA will open play at the Music City Invitational Friday evening against host Belmont. Match time is set for 6 p.m. at the Curb Event Center on the Belmont campus. The Lions will also play Alcorn State again at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
