VOLLEYBALL COMES UP SHORT AT HOME AGAINST UCA

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama volleyball team struggled to find offense Wednesday evening in a 3-0 home loss to Central Arkansas. The Lions hit .087 as a team in the 26-24, 25-20, 25-14 defeat. With the loss, UNA falls to 12-11 overall and 2-9 in ASUN Conference play.
 
UCA overcame a set point in the opening frame. After a kill by Maggie Sullivan gave the Lions a 24-23 lead, the visitors scored three straight points to rally for the win. The Sugar Bears were able to pull away in each of the next two frames.
 
Hayley Martin had three kills in the second set, but a UNA rally came up short. In the third game, UCA led wire to wire.
 
Taylor Floyd led the Lions with 11 kills on the night. Elif Ozsoy notched 31 assists while UNA libero Ella Ratzloff recorded a match-high 29 digs in just three sets.
 
UNA will play at Central Arkansas on Sunday. Match time is set for Noon at the Prince Center on the UCA campus in Conway, Ark.
