LIONS SHOOT DOWN FISK 89-61

FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama women's basketball team tied a program record with 17 made three-point baskets Sunday afternoon in an 89-61 home win over Fisk. The victory gives the Lions a 4-3 record on the season.

Emma Kate Tittle led UNA with 24 points. The true freshman from Tuscumbia was 6-of-11 from long range and added a perfect 4-for-4 showing from the free throw line.

After surrendering a trey to Fisk on the game's opening possession, the Lions reeled off 11 straight points and never trailed again. The home team stretched the lead to 23-12 at the end of the first quarter and led 44-30 at the half.

Fisk (4-3) again scored first to open the third quarter. Four different UNA players then scored during a 12-2 run. Hina Suzuki started the run with a three-pointer from the top of the key. Another trey by Tittle closed the run and gave the Lions a 56-34 lead with 5:53 remaining in the period. UNA led 65-45 heading into the fourth quarter.

The lead continued to grow in the final period as the Lions emptied the bench. For the Lions, 11 different players scored, including six who connected from three-point range. The largest lead came at the 4:13 mark when a three-pointer by Tittle gave UNA an 83-53 lead.

The 17 made three-point baskets is the most in the Division I era for the UNA women. It ties the overall single-game program record set on Nov. 24, 2008 at home against Blue Mountain.

Jade Moore added 14 points for the Lions, who did set a new single-game program record with 44 three-point attempts. The previous record of 42 attempts from three-point range was set on Feb. 28, 2021 at Lipscomb.

Suzuki added a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists. After Sunday, she leads the ASUN with 45 assists on the year and a league-high average of 6.4 assists per-game.

Alexis Callins rounded out the top scorers for the Lions on Sunday with 11 points.

UNA will host Arkansas State on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Flowers Hall.
