HOMAN DRIVES IN FOUR RUNS IN 8-5 WIN OVER UTM

FLORENCE, Ala. – Reid Homan delivered twice with the bases loaded, driving in four runs to lead the University of North Alabama to an 8-5 win over Tennessee-Martin at Mike Lane Field.
 
The win gave UNA a series win over the Skyhawks, taking of the three games in the weekend series.
 
UNA is now 4-5 overall, while UTM is 4-6.
 
The Skyhawks took the early lead with a run in the top of the third inning, but UNA answered quickly with six runs in the bottom of the frame.
 
Cal Cook got a leadoff single, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on Dominick McIntyre's RBI-single. Drew Hudson then drew a walk and Austin Thrasher singled to lead the bases. Homan then delivered a two-run double to put the Lions on top 3-1. Devne Daniel drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, another scored on a wild pitch and Jonathan drove in the final run on an RBI-single.
 
UTM got single runs back in the fourth and sixth innings off UNA starter Brycen Parrish, who left the game with a 6-3 lead. He pitched six complete innings and allowed three runs on seven hits, walking four and striking out six.
 
Austin Nichols gave up two runs in the seventh inning on three hits to cut the lead to 6-5.
 
The Lions got two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth as Homan delivered another two-run hit with the bases loaded. McIntyre reached on a fielder's choice and Hudson walked. Thrasher was then intentionally walked with two outs to bring Homan to the plate. He quickly delivered a rope single to right-centerfield.
 
UNA relievers Jacob James and Austin Emener held the Skyhawks scoreless over the final two innings.
 
Parrish (1-0) got the win, while Emener earned his second save of the season.
 
UTM out-hit the Lions 11 to nine in the game.
 
UNA plays at Alabama Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
