LIONS DROP SERIES FINALE TO JSU

FLORENCE, Ala. – Jacksonville State broke open a 3-2 game with a six-run sixth inning and went on to a 9-3 win over North Alabama in the final game of an ASUN Conference baseball series at Mike Lane Field.
 
North Alabama is now 9-32 overall and 2-19 in ASUN play. JSU improved to 21-21 overall and 14-7 in the conference.
 
After JSU scored a run in the top of the first inning, UNA tied the game in the bottom of the first when Luke Harper walked and scored on an Austin Thrasher RBI-double.
 
Jacksonville State went back on top with two runs in the fourth and UNA answered with a run in the bottom of the frame. Harper doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch.
 
The Lions left eight runners on base over the first four innings.
 
After JSU went up 9-2 with six runs in the sixth, UNA got its final run in the bottom of the seventh. Devne Daniel singled and later scored on an RBI-single by Zak Majer.
 
UNA starter Jacob James (2-4) took the loss for the Lions. He allowed five runs on six hits over five and a third innings. He walked four and struckout seven. Austin Emener pitched three and two-thirds innings and gave up four runs on six hits with four walks and one strikeout.
 
Thrasher extended his current hitting streak to 17 games. It is the longest of UNA's Division era. He has also reached base in 19 straight games.
 
North Alabama plays at Central Arkansas next weekend.
