NASHVILLE, Tenn. – North Alabama led 4-3 in the fourth inning but couldn't hold it as Lipscomb rallied for an 8-5 win over the Lions in the second game of an ASUN Conference baseball series.
UNA scored two runs in the second inning, one in the third and one in the fourth for a brief 4-3 lead before the Bisons tied it in the bottom of the frame. Lipscomb then took an 8-4 lead with two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh. The Lions scored their final run in the eighth but couldn't get any closer.
North Alabama was out-hit 11-2 in the game.
The Lions are now 12-40 overall and 5-24 in the ASUN. Lipscomb is 33-20 overall and 19-10 in the conference.
UNA's first two runs came on a combination of one hit and four walks.
Cal Cook singled and the next four batters walked.
Peyton Thomas and
Levi Jensen walked to load the bases before
Luke Harper walked to force in a run and
Austin Thrasher walked to push the second run across the plate.
Devne Daniel's home run to lead off the third inning would prove to be the Lions' final hit of the game.
In the fourth Thomas walked, Harper was hit-by-pitch and Thrasher walked to load the bases.
Reid Homan then grounded out but drove in a run to give UNA a 4-3 lead.
UNA's final run in the eighth scored when Jensen was hit-by-pitch and later scored on an error.
The final game of the series will be played on Sunday in UNA head coach
Mike Keehn's final game with the Lions.
