BATON ROUGE, La. (October 10, 2023) – North Alabama Women's Tennis concluded their trip to the ITA Southern Regionals at LSU over the weekend, leaving the tournament with 19 total wins.
Competing against other NCAA Division I players in the region, the Lions left with each player earning a victory, with five players earning bids in the main draw after playing through the qualifying rounds.
In singles competition, six Lions finished with a win in all competitions. Freshman Emma Ansorge led the way with three wins on the day, earning all her victories in the qualifying round. It was capsulated by a 6-3, 6-2 win over Vanessa Mellynchuk of UAB to move into the main draw before falling in the main draw to Petra Sedlackova of Alabama by a score of 6-1, 6-3.
Freshmen Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Marta Serra Carles finished with two wins in singles, with Serra Carles earning both in the qualifying rounds and Bobrovnikova winning in the qualifying and consolation round. Sophomore Valeria San Miguel and senior Marta Torres picked up wins in consolation to round out singles play.
Doubles play saw all six competing Lions earn a win, highlighted by San Miguel, Bobrovnikova, Torres and freshman Ada Karabacak playing through the qualifying rounds into the main draw.
Brobrovnikova/San Miguel earned an 8-6 win over Paige Wise/Tjasa Klevisar of Northwestern State and followed with an 8-7 (7-4) win over Zuzana Pavelekova/Ella Tuomela of Jacksonville State to advance to the main draw. Torres/Karabacak followed with victories over Maria Wang Martinez/Emma-Lou Pommiers of McNeese State, 8-2, and an 8-4 win over Alicia Owegi/Yana Dhamija of Alabama A&M to punch their ticket to the main draw. Both pairs would fall in their ensuing matches.
The pair of Ansorge and senior Kalais Going secured a win in doubles, beating Martina Zaza/Polina Ramenskaja of Jacksonville State.

UNA will have the weekend off before traveling to Mississippi for the Jackson State Invite from Oct. 20-22.
