NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 28, 2023) – The University of North Alabama women's cross country team competed at the 2023 Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in Nashville on Saturday morning, finishing ninth overall.
UNA finished with 256 points to place in the top 10 ahead of Austin Peay (279), FGCU (299) and Jacksonville (323). The ninth-place finish is the program's best since placing sixth in 2020.
For the fourth time this season, junior
Gracie Mathews led the Lions as she finished with a time of 18:45.03 to place 47th overall in a field of 106 runners. Tracking shortly behind was fellow junior
Janeth Jepkirui with a time of 19:00.74 — just four seconds off her season-best. She finished 51st overall.

Ashlyn Anderson and
Laura Mobley and senior
Sage Betts rounded out the scoring for UNA, as Anderson jumped five positions from her first split to finish 63rd with a time of 19:34.34.
Betts and Mobley finished just outside the top 70 with Betts recording her second-fastest time of the season at 19:46.37. Mobley was one spot behind her with a similar pace, finishing at 19:47.94.
Lipscomb won the meet by taking all five top spots, led by individual medalist Kiara Carter at 16:42.56.
The fall season wraps up with the 2023 NCAA South Region Championship on Friday, Nov. 10 in Gainesville, Fla.
