Four Lions selected to FCS Football Central All-UAC Teams

Ossai and White Schultz repeat honors; Reddick and Kenebrew earn second team picks

FLORENCE, Ala. (December 18, 2023) – More all-conference honors piled in for the University of North Alabama football program on Monday, as four Lions were named to all-conference teams by FCS Football Central.

The FCS Football Central UAC All-Conference Team consists of 66 players from all nine programs. UNA is represented by senior defensive lineman Philip Ossai and redshirt sophomore safety Edwin White Schultz on the first team, as well as redshirt junior safety Gregory Reddick and redshirt senior wide receiver Takairee Kenebrew on the second team.

Ossai totaled 63 tackles this season with a team-high 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. He had five QB hurries to lead the Purple Swarm, as well as two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups. The two fumble recoveries both came against Tennessee Tech, set UNA's FCS era record for recoveries in a game.

In addition to today's award, Ossai also earned first team all-conference honors from Phil Steele and second team honors from the UAC head coaches. The senior also represented UNA at the Trillion FCS Bowl in Daytona, Fla. where he showed out with eight tackles, 2.5 TFL and 1.5 sacks.

White Schultz completed his sophomore campaign with a team-high 87 tackles — just one shy of UNA's FCS record for tackles in a season. He had four games with double digit tackle totals, including a career-high 14 tackles in his UNA debut against Mercer at the FCS Kickoff. His 7.9 tackles per game ranked fifth in the UAC. In addition to his 87 tackles, White Schultz added 6.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. He also had three pass breakups, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a QB hurry.

This marks the second first-team honor for White Schultz, as he was also on the UAC head coaches' first team defense. He was a second team all-conference honoree by Phil Steele.

Reddick earns second team all-conference honors after finishing with 71 tackles to rank second on the team. Rated one of the highest-graded defensive backs by Pro Football Focus (PFF) on a consistent basis, Reddick was a difference maker this season with 6.0 TFLs, two pass breakups and an interception.

Perhaps the most impactful play of the entire season, Reddick broke up a pass on a two-point conversion play against Utah Tech to secure a 31-30 win for the Lions at home.

Last, but not least, Kenebrew lands honors on the offensive side of the ball after leading the squad with 42 catches for 669 yards and 10 touchdowns. Against Florida State, the redshirt senior caught his 26th career touchdown pass to jump Dre Hall for the most touchdown catches in UNA football history. His 10 TD catches this year also tied the single season record with Hall and Ed Gant.

Austin Peay running back Jevon Jackson was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Central Arkansas defensive lineman David Walker was the Defensive Player of the Year.
