FLORENCE, Ala. -- With Central Arkansas holding a six point lead with 3:36 to play in the game, North Alabama outscored the Sugar Bears 13-2 over the closing minutes to take a 63-58 ASUN Conference win at CB&S Bank Arena.
The win was also the 150th win at North Alabama for UNA head coach
Missy Tiber.
North Alabama led 19-8 at the end of the first period and held a 28-21 advantage at intermission.
UCA used an 18-13 scoring edge in the third quarter to cut UNA's lead to 41-39 entering the final period.
Central Arkansas led by six points twice in the fourth quarter but back-to-back three-point baskets by
Hina Suzuki and
Jade Moore tied the game at 56-56. A steal and layup by
Alyssa Clutter put UNA on top for good with 2:29 left.
Rhema Pegues and Suzuki led UNA with 13 points each and Moore added nine on three three-pointers.
The UNA defense stepped up and forced 19 UCA turnovers, which helped the Lions counter the Sugar Bears 45-27 rebounding advantage.
North Alabama is now 10-13 overall and 5-7 in ASUN play. UCA falls to 8-15 overall and 3-9 in the ASUN.
