FLORENCE, Ala. --
Alexis Callins and
Jade Moore hit key three-point baskets in the final minute to lead the University of North Alabama women's basketball team to its fourth win in 11 days as the Lions downed Jacksonville 55-52 at CB&S Bank Arena.
The win clinches a spot in the ASUN Conference post-season tournament for the Lions.
UNA, now 13-14 overall and 8-8 in ASUN Conference play, held a 26-19 lead at the half and built its lead to 11 in the third quarter before a Jacksonville rally. The Dolphins went ahead by three at 48-45 with 2:49 to play.
Callins fourth three-point basket of the game came with 56 seconds left in the game and put UNA back on top 50-48. Moore followed with a three-pointer of her own with 11 seconds to play to extend the Lions' lead to 53-48.
A late pair of free throws from
Skyler Gill helped seal the win.
The win gives UNA a 7-1 all-time record against Jacksonville, including a 4-0 record against JU at home.
Moore finished with a game-high 15 points and Callins and Gill followed with 12 points each.
Hina Suzuki helped direct the UNA offense with seven assists.
UNA hosts North Florida Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at CB&S Bank Arena.
