BASEBALL LIONS GET ASUN ROAD WIN AT BELLARMINE

LOUISVILLE, Ky., -- Jacob Bradshaw pitched seven strong innings and Andrew Knight had three hits to help lead the University of North Alabama baseball team to an 8-6 ASUN Conference road win over Bellarmine. It was the Lions' first ASUN Conference win of the season and snapped a 22-game road losing streak in conference games.

UNA trailed 4-1 early but tied the game in the fifth inning, then scored four runs in the eight for an 8-4 lead. The Lions allowed two runs in the ninth but held on for the win. UNA is now 7-25 overall and 1-12 in the ASUN.

In the second inning, Jackson Ferrigno singled and later scored when Levi Jensen reached on an error to give UNA a 1-0 lead.

After falling behind 4-1 in the bottom of the second, UNA got two runs back in the fourth when Kyle Machado was hit-by-pitch, Andrew Knight doubled and Machado scored on a Ferrigno gronud-out. Knight then came home on a Dominicj McIntyre RBI-single.

The Lions tied the game in the fifth on a Gehrig Frei solo home run.

The game remained tied until the eighth when Knight led off the inning with a home run. Three more runs would also score as Drew Hudson doubled, McIntyre walked, and Levi Jensen reached base whil trying to sacrifice in Hudson. After a double steal, an Ethan Walker brought in McIntyre and a Frei singled drove in Jensen to make it 8-4.

Bradshaw (2-3) left the game with seven complete innings, allowing four runs on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Reliever Caden Barnett pitched a scoreless eighth but gave up one run in the ninth, as did Will Morris, before recording the final out.
