MACON, Ga. -- The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team splits its matches on the opening day of the Bears Beach Bash at Mercer University, dowing Eastern Kentucky 3-2 before falling 4-1 to UNA-Wilmington.

North Alabama is now 17-14 overall. The 17 wins in a seaso are the most in a single season in the five year history of the UNA beach program.

UNA's No. 1 pair of Taylor Seney and Paula Klemperer remained hot, picking up wins in both matches. They cruised to a 21-11, 21-15 win against EKU and then pulled out a three-set thriller, 21-23, 24-22, 22-20, over UNCW.

Against EKU, UNA also got wins at No. 2 from Katy Floyd and Mackenzie Martin and No. 4 from Natalie Kordt and Jelena Girod to take the 3-2 team victory.

North Alabama plays Mercer and eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
