JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Jacksonville State opened up a 10-0 lead over the first four innings and went on to a 13-3 win over North Alabama to close out a three-game ASUN Conference series at Jim Case Stadium.
With the loss, North Alabama is now 9-33 overall and 3-18 in ASUN Conference play.
Jus scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, five in the third and one in the fourth for a 10-0 lead. UNA scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, with the Gamecocks adding two of their own in the bottom of the sixth. An additional run by JSU in the bottom of the seventh ended the game due to the 10-run rule at 13-3.
UNA's scoring rally began when
Andin Johnson walked and
Drew Hudson followed with a single. An RBI-double from
Ethan Walker got the Lions on the scoreboard.
Jackson Ferrigno grounded out but drove in Hudson for the second run and a
Gehrig Frei single drove in Walker with the third run.
Kevin Henrich (0-1) took the loss for UNA, allowing seven runs on six hits over two innings of work.
North Alabama will host North Florida in a three-game conference series beginning on Friday.
