Mackenzie Martin,
Martha McLaurin and
Paula Klemperer have been selected for the 2023 College Sports Communicators Women's Academic All-District At-Large team.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
In addition to their work in the classroom, the trio helped the Lions post a school-record 20 wins this season while reaching the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Tournament.
Martin, a junior from Hoover, Ala., and four-year member of the UNA program, has a 4.00 cumulative grade point average in Exercise Science. She had a 25-10 record this season, going 1-0 playing at No. 1 and 24-10 at No. 2. Primarily paired at No. 2 with
Katy Floyd, the duo had a 22-10 record this season. Her 59 career wins are second best in school history and she has played in 97 career matches with the Lions.
McLaurin, a junior from Gulf Shores, Ala., has a 3.93 cumulative GPA in Health and Fitness. A two-year member of the UNA team, she has a 20-15 record this season, playing exclusively with
Selma Robinson as UNA's No. 3 pair. She posted 15 wins last season while helping the Lions win three matches in the ASUN Tournament and 16 team wins overall.
Klemperer, a senior from Hildesheim, Germany, has a 4.0 GPA in Business Administration. She is the only member of the current Lion team who has played at UNA for all five seasons of the beach program's existence. She had a 26-10 overall record this season, including a 23-10 mark playing as the No. 1 pair with
Taylor Seney. The duo received an ASUN Pair of the Week honor during the 2023 season, went undefeated in conference play and made the the ASUN All-Tournament team.
Klemperer is the winningest individual in program history with a 61-30 record in 91 matches played. She also has the most career wins at No. 1 with 43.
