FLORENCE, Ala. (March 26, 2026) – The North Alabama beach volleyball team prepares for its first home invitational of the season with the Shoals Beach Bash from March 27-28 in Florence.
UNA will host its first of two home events this season with four teams set to compete at the UNA Beach Volleyball Courts, located at the corner of Cox Creek Parkway and Chisolm Road next to Hilda B. Anderson Softball Stadium. The Lions prep for Atlantic Sun Conference foes EKU and Austin Peay while also set to face Spring Hill College and Tusculum.
North Alabama opens the weekend on Friday, March 27 vs. Spring Hill at 10 a.m. and EKU at 4 p.m. Day two finds the Lions facing Tusculum at noon before ending against Austin Peay at 4 p.m.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama enters the weekend with a 9-9 record on the year. The Lions competed at the UAB March to May Invitational last time out, coming away with two wins against Austin Peay. Graduate Sarah Larkin Lewis and sophomore Paige Griner stood out from the weekend with a 4-0 record. They increased their season win totals to 10 to tie them with graduate Audrey Gauthier for second on the team. Senior Selma Robinson leads the team with 11 wins after landing two wins at the UAB March to May Invite.
SCOUTING SPRING HILL: Spring Hill College enters the weekend with a 6-7 record. The Sandy Panthers are coming off a weekend appearance at Southern Miss where they took on the Golden Eagles and Louisiana-Monroe. They will look to get their first win since a 5-0 sweep on Senior Night against Mobile on March 10. The head coach for Spring Hill is Sarah Senft.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS THE SANDY BADGERS: This marks the first all-time meeting in the series history.
SCOUTING EKU: The Colonels head to Florence with a 9-6 mark on the season. Last time out, EKU secured two wins at the Day of Duals on March 11 – hosted by Georgia State. EKU claimed wins over Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech on the day. Molly Shomock and Riley Cutler lead the team with an 11-4 record. Gabriella Armitage and Elpida Pitsigkoni have a team-high 6-3 mark from the top flight. EKU is coached by Jeff Patton.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS THE COLONELS: The Lions look to maintain their unbeaten record over EKU with a 10-0 advantage in the all-time series.
SCOUTING TUSCULUM: Tusculum gets set for the weekend entering with a 6-12 record. The Pioneers' last invitational came at the Battle of the Bay Invitational from March 20-21 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The team looks to secure its first win since March 7 in a 4-1 win over Catawba. Siri Aasgard and Ally Doty lead the team with an 11-7 season record. Sofia Vega Barrantes and Hannah Marsh holds a 7-5 mark from flight one. Emily Kalmink serves as the head coach for Tusculum.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS THE PIONEERS: This marks the second meeting in the all-time series. North Alabama won the first meeting in a 4-1 victory on March 4, 2023.
SCOUTING AUSTIN PEAY: The Governors sport a 7-12 record on the season. Austin Peay looks to get back in the win column with their last win coming on March 14 against Wingate. This marks the second-straight weekend facing North Alabama in an invitational after last competing at the UAB March to May.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS THE GOVERNORS: North Alabama holds a 14-5 advantage in the series over Austin Peay. The Lions swept the Governors twice last time out at the UAB March to May on March 20-21.
