FLORENCE, Ala. (September 11, 2023) – The University of North Alabama volleyball team will play the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Florence for the first home match of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 12 inside CB&S Bank Arena in Flowers Hall.
The Lions are coming off a 3-1 record this week which saw the team earn their first-ever wins against George Washington and Georgetown and their second-ever against Alabama State. Both North Alabama and Alabama A&M will be looking to get back in the win column after suffering defeats in previous outings.
Tickets can be purchased through the ticket portal on roarlions.com, and live stats will be provided for the match through StatBroadcast. The match will also be livestreamed on ESPN+.

The Lions "Eight" Last Week: Eight players from the team tied or set new career marks over the course of the week. Led by new career highs in kills by graduate middle blocker Anna Katherine Griggs (16 twice) and assists by senior setter Kennedey Johnson (45), Luana Bulara (one kill, nine assists), Olivia Fenoff (two assists, two service aces), Avery Markham (one assist, 16 digs, three blocks), Hayley Martin (.750 attack percentage), Elif Ozsoy (five service aces, .667 attack percentage) and Nicole Sargent (eight kills, one assist, three blocks) all achieved the feat this past week.
Markham Makes More Marks: Freshman outside hitter Avery Markham earned her second ASUN Freshman of the Week honor of the season for the week of Sept. 4-10, the league announced on Monday. Playing in all 18 sets this week, she totaled 42 kills, four service aces and two assists on offense. Defensively, Markham tallied 54 digs and five blocks, while recording a .913 service reception percentage on 127 attempts. Of the five total awards UNA has won in the category as a member of the ASUN, Markham has won two of them.
Meeting History: With Tuesday marking just the third meeting since 1995, North Alabama has a 7-5 record against Alabama A&M, including a pair of wins in 2021. In the home-and-away matchups two seasons ago, the Lions swept both matches on Sept. 14 and 21.
Scouting the Bulldogs: Alabama A&M (1-8) is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and is coming off an appearance at the Saluki Bash Invitational in Carbondale, Ill., where they dropped their three matches to Southern Illinois, Arkansas State and Eastern Illinois. Sophomore Bailey Duckett leads the Bulldogs in points with 75, totaling 63 kills, six service aces and an assist on offense. She also has 39 digs, eight blocks and a .956 reception percentage on the defensive side. Alabama A&M is coached by Rose Magers-Powell.
