HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (November 14, 2024) – University of North Alabama beach volleyball players Ryenne Gepford and Selma Robinson are set to compete at the 2024 AVCA Pairs National Championships in Huntsville, starting Friday.
The two head to nearby Huntsville to compete among the nation's best in the three-day championship tournament. The event serves as the capstone to the 2024 fall season.
The tournament marks the second-consecutive year the Lions are making the tournament, with Robinson playing in her second after appearing in the 2023 fall season. Robinson competed with former standouts Paula Klemperer, Taylor Seney and current UNA Beach Volleyball Assistant Coach Mackenzie Martin, leaving with 23rd and 29th-place finishes for North Alabama.
Robinson and Gepford open the weekend on Friday, Nov. 15, beginning with two matches in pool play before advancing to the champion's bracket. The two open against California's Emma Donley and Portia Sherman at 9 a.m. with the following match determined by the winner of Texas's Madison Parmelly and Karin Zolnercikova and Arizona's Adriana Nieves Papaleo and Katherine Phillips.
Seeding for the bracket is determined by record in pool play, with the top 16 seeds receiving first-round byes.
Losers in the main bracket will compete in corresponding consolation brackets following a loss. The consolation brackets consist of eight brackets ranging from fifth, ninth, 17th, 25th, 33rd, 49th, 57th and 61st. More information on draws and match times can be found here.
