FLORENCE, Ala. (February 19, 2024) – Spring football is quickly approaching for the University of North Alabama, as the Lions announced their annual spring game for Thursday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex in Florence.
The spring game is free admission and open to the public. There will also be a VIP tent available with food, drinks and spirits. To reserve a spot, email

The spring game will be formatted like a normal game with standard offense vs. defense and standard scoring. This season, UNA head coach
Brent Dearmon announced a draft to select the two teams for the spring game. Each team will be represented by one of the coordinators and an elected team captain in the draft.
The Bill Jones Athletic Complex is currently host to UNA's football practices and will be the future home of Bank Independent Stadium. For more information, visit

A number of festivities will surround the spring game, including the Demarcus Blount Alumni Flag Football Game at 5 p.m. This game is also free and open to the public and will include some of UNA's all-time greats. The game is named in honor of former UNA running back Demarcus Blount, who passed away last month. Blount played at UNA from 2002-05 and holds the school record for career rushing touchdowns.

During the game, UNA Athletics will also host a variety of food trucks in the Bill Jones Athletic Complex parking lot behind the bleachers. Parking will be limited in this area, as fans are encouraged to seek parking below CB&S Bank Arena or across the street in front of Rice and Rivers Hall.
The festivities will continue into Friday morning, as the Lions will host the 2024 North Alabama Football Golf Tournament at 9 a.m. at Cypress Lakes Golf Course. For more information about sponsorships or playing in the tournament, contact Megan Dye at

The road to the 2024 spring game begins with the first official practice next Tuesday, Feb. 20. The team will have 14 practices leading up to the spring game.
Entering his second season at the helm, Dearmon said he is excited to continue building the program. The Lions return a number of familiar faces, while adding a solid group of newcomers this spring. Additionally, the entire coaching staff remains intact from last season.
"We are excited to get started with spring ball this month," Dearmon said. "We finished last season with some strong momentum, and we hope to continue to build off of last season. Our staff is one of the only football staffs in the country that returns every single coach. We look to develop our current and new players while also building the much-needed chemistry to compete at an even higher level."
