NAPA VALLEY, Calif. (March 26, 2024) –  The University of North Alabama men's golf team placed fifth in the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. Andrew Ferworn led all UNA golfers placing 16th.
 
UNA added a 294 third round score on Tuesday to place fifth with a 878 total. North Alabama led Elon by a stroke while finishing just three strokes back of Michigan State. BYU took home the tournament crown after punching a 12-under-par 852 total. The Cougars were trailed by Sam Houston State and Nihon University. UNA finished above the likes of UConn, Howard, Florida A&M, Central Michigan and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
 
Freshman Andrew Ferworn led all North Alabama golfers, turning in a 219 card to place 16th. Ferworn used a 73 third round to finish out the tournament in the top 20. Eric Luo and Sebastian Bengtsson finished just behind Ferworn, tying for 23rd place after each closing out the tournament with 221 totals. 
  
Sophomore Chase Kaiser was UNA's biggest riser on the afternoon, shooting the best team round of the tournament with a 70 in round three to jump 17 spots tied for 30th place. Freshman John Logan tied for 45th place with a 229 while Corey Maher tied for 56th place with a 234 total. 
  
The Lions enjoyed an impressive back nine on the afternoon. UNA entered the turn with 24 bogeys and five birdies on the day before flipping the script and picking up 10 birdies and having just five bogeys on the back nine in the third round.
 
Kaiser finished the tournament with a team-high 37 pars while Eric Luo led the tournament with two eagles. 
  
UNA returns to action on April 1-3 with the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Invite at True Blue Golf Resort in Pawley's Island, S.C.
