ATLANTA (March 3, 2024) – The Atlantic Sun Conference released the 2024 men's basketball postseason awards Monday afternoon, announcing University of North Alabama sophomore Jacari Lane as a First Team All-ASUN selection in a vote of the league's head coaches.
One year after being named the ASUN Freshman of the Year, the ASUN Sixth Man of the Year and a unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Freshman team, Lane follows up with his first all-conference team selection as a sophomore.
The Huntsville native averages 14.9 points per game and is the only UNA player to start all 30 games this season. Lane has 23 games with double figure scoring totals and ranks among the top 15 ASUN players in scoring, free throw percentage and shooting percentage.
Earlier this season, Lane broke his own Division I single-season assists record at UNA with 113 assists. He ranks sixth in the league with a 1.7 assists/turnover ratio and seventh with 3.8 assists per game.
Some noteworthy performances include a 19 point, 11 assist double-double at Kansas State in a one-point overtime road loss, a season-high 28 point performance against Morehead State, 25 points in a win over Lipscomb, 27 points in a win over Queens and 26 points at EKU.
For the season, Lane is shooting 43 percent from the field, shooting 150-348. He also has a 37 percent clip behind the arc (24-65) and a 82 percent showing at the free throw line with 123 makes to rank fourth in the ASUN.
EKU's Isaiah Cozart was voted the ASUN Player of the Year and Unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, while EKU Coach A.W. Hamilton took home Coach of the Year honors after winning the regular season title. Deyton Albury from Queens was named Newcomer of the Year, Sai Witt of Austin Peay won Sixth Man of the Year and Tucker Anderson of Central Arkansas took home Freshman of the Year.
