FLORENCE, Ala. (May 1, 2024) – The University of North Alabama women's basketball program and head coach Candi Whitaker announced information for the 2024 UNA Women's Basketball Camps to be hosted this summer inside CB&S Bank Arena.
The Lions will host three camps during the summer and will be led by Coach Whitaker and the UNA Women's Basketball coaching staff. The camps are open to all, limited by number, age, grade level and gender.
The camp opens with a skills camp from June 4-6, with the three-day camp having two sessions each day.
Skills camp is designed for elementary through middle school age players with the goal to give campers tools to grow as basketball players and equip them with fundamentals and drills to continue improving beyond camp. The camps open with a K-4th grade session from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., followed by a 5th-8th grade session from 1-4 p.m.
UNA will also host an elite camp on June 7 from 1-4 p.m. The camp is designed for high school basketball players to develop their skill set with on-court instruction from the UNA Women's Basketball coaching staff.
The summer will conclude with a Little Lions camp June 21, open to all boys and girls aged 2-5. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt and small basketball while being introduced to the game of basketball.
There will be no team camps hosted this summer, but plans are set to return team camps in Summer 2025.
"We are excited about our camps for the upcoming summer," said Whitaker. "I think camps have such an important piece to building a program by connecting the community with your program and developing young people's skill set and love for the game of basketball. We look forward to working with the youth in the Shoals!"
