Three Men’s Golfers earn GCAA Academic Honors

Luo, Kaiser and Bengtsson named All-American Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. (July 25, 2024) – The Golf Coaches Association of America and Cobalt Golf announced their 2023-24 All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I on Thursday morning, with North Alabama's Eric Luo, Chase Kaiser and Sebastian Bengtsson honored as recipients of the academic distinction.

The men's golf trio earned their second academic honor of 2023-24 after becoming UNA's first College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recipients since 2012 back in June.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in addition to participating in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

Luo, Bengtsson and Kaiser were among 532 NCAA Division I athletes from 180 schools to earn the honor. The three were among nine representatives from the Atlantic Sun Conference, which included student-athletes from FGCU and Lipscomb.

"We are proud of these three for their hard work in the classroom and on the course," said UNA Men's Golf Head Coach Austin Phillips. This is a great achievement and can't wait to see what they all do this year."
