NOTES
SERIES HISTORY: This will be the sixth all-time meeting for the two programs dating back to 2007. The Lions are 0-5 against the Governors, who are an Atlantic Sun Conference foe. Thanks to ASUN Divisions, this is the first time the two will play twice in a single season. This is the first meeting in Florence since 2022 where the contest ended in a 3-1 loss. Four of the five contests have been during the Division I era. Former head coach Graham Winkworth faced APSU in his final regular-season home game in 2007. North Alabama visited the Governors in Clarksville last season and walked away with a loss. Former Lion
Haley Patterson had four shots with two on target for the contest. Keeper
Allanah Blye held APSU scoreless for the first 45 minutes of the game. The Lions had 11 shots during the game. Austin Peay's Aniyah Mack scored both goals in the second half.
SCOUTING THE GOVS: Austin Peay is winless as they come to Florence for the first time since 2022. The Govs have been shut out in every game this season except for Bellarmine, where they scored their first goal of the year. The team is 0-8-3 overall with an 0-3-0 ASUN record. Ellie Dreas and Vivian Burke headline the Governor offense. Burker leads in points (2) and goals (1) with 11 shots while Dreas leads in shots (16) and shots on goal (8).
ABOUT LAST GAME: UNA played to a scoreless draw against Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, marking the third tie of the season. North Alabama recorded its seventh clean sheet of the year, as goalkeeper
Madison Vukas and the Lions' defense held the Colonels — the No. 42 team in the Rating Percentage Index (RPI) and highest-ranked in the ASUN — without a goal. Eastern Kentucky is ranked higher than Power Five programs such as Ole Miss, Arizona, Pittsburgh and Miami (Fla.). North Alabama became the third team this season to hold the Colonels scoreless. The other two opponents to do so were ASUN opponent Lipscomb and nationally-ranked No. 2 Tennessee. The defense was stamped on this game as they blocked or pushed 10 EKU shots off target — Vukas cleaned up all three on-goal attempts for saves.
THE NATION'S KEEPER: Graduate goalkeeper
Madison Vukas is top-10 in three major categories for goalkeepers across the nation. She is second in save percentage (.935), shutouts (7) and goals-against average (.364). Vukas leads the ASUN in all three categories and currently has one ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week award under her belt.
CLEAN SHEET CITY: The Lions have accumulated seven clean sheets this season thanks to the defense and keeper
Madison Vukas. After their contest against EKU, the team earned their seventh shutout. This seventh shutout ties for the third most in the Division I era. In 2018 the Lions notched seven, in 2022 the team earned eight and in 2023 UNA found 13 shutouts. North Alabama was led by goalkeeper Adriana Wright who secured the 13 en route to leading the nation in shutouts. That season, UNA made their way to the ASUN Championship Final.
TO CONFERENCE PLAY!: The ASUN moved to two divisions ahead of the 2025 spring season, meaning teams will only play within the division during the regular season. During post season, each division matches up with the other in the first round, including top seeds against four seeds and two seeds against three seeds. All soccer postseason games will be hosted on campus sites by the top two teams in each division.
GOLD AND GRAPHITE: The ASUN Gold Division is where North Alabama will play this season, joining Central Arkansas, Austin Peay, Bellarmine, EKU and Lipscomb. The Graphite Division includes FGCU, Jacksonville, Stetson, North Florida, West Georgia and Queens.
NEXT GAME: Following the match against Austin Peay, UNA hosts their second home game of the week against Lipscomb on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Cox Creek Sports Complex.
