Men’s Tennis set for two-event weekend starting Friday

Lions to compete at CCB Invitational and Conference Individual Tournament

JACKSONVILLE (October 22, 2025) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team has two tournaments from Oct. 24-26, taking on the Conference Individual Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. and the CCB Invitational in Mountain Brook, Ala.

North Alabama has a busy weekend on the cards with all nine Lions set to compete. UNA travels to North Florida for bouts against conference foes while also heading to Birmingham in action against Southern region teams.


The Lions had a solid outing last time out with 17 wins at the ITA Southern Regionals, improving on the team's 2024 performance with four more victories. Leading UNA in the tournament was senior Lachlan Brain along with juniors Izan Orgiles and Alex Despoja. The three had four victories apiece, followed by three wins for junior Alberto Altur.


Junior Whitman Davis, sophomore Samu Dominguez and freshman Benjamin Meyers all had solid performances last time out with two wins.



ABOUT THE CONFERENCE INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT


Brain, Despoja, Altur and Orgiles will compete in singles and doubles action against ASUN schools North Florida, Bellarmine, Lipscomb, FGCU, EKU, Stetson and Austin Peay. Abilene Christian and UT Arlington will also be among the competing teams at the tournament.


The weekend opens will main draw play in doubles before heading into qualifying singles play. The qualifiers head into the main draw before both singles and doubles being played out to determine a champion.


The singles and doubles champion will represent the ASUN at the ITA Conference Master's Championships from Nov. 6-9 in San Diego, Calif.


The event will take place at the UNF Tennis Complex. Draw information will be released closer to the tournament start, and results will be updated throughout each day on the official ITA tournament page.



ABOUT THE CCB INVITATIONAL


Sophomores Satoru Nakajima and Austin Miramontes will join Dominguez, Meyers and Davis in the three-day tournament hosted by Samford.


The four Lions will embark in singles and doubles action in a field that includes South Alabama, Tulane, College of Charleston, Louisiana Lafayette, UAB, Kennesaw State, Southern Miss and Auburn.


The weekend opens with two singles matches on Friday. Saturday sees two rounds of doubles followed by a round of singles. Sunday ends with one doubles and singles round.


The event will take place at the Country Club of Birmingham. Full results and a recap will be posted on RoarLions.com following the action, but fans can also follow along on the UNA Tennis social media pages.
