Volleyball to host Stetson and FGCU this weekend

Lions set for ASUN home action against Hatters and Eagles

FLORENCE, Ala. (October 9, 2025) – The University of North Alabama volleyball team continues Atlantic Sun Conference action at home against Stetson and FGCU this weekend in CB&S Bank Arena.

North Alabama opens against the Hatters on Friday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. UNA concludes the weekend against the Eagles on Sunday, Oct. 12 at noon.

Both matches will be available for streaming on ESPN+, and live stats will be provided through StatBroadcast. Full results and a recap will be posted on RoarLions.com following the action, but fans can also follow along in real time on the UNA Volleyball social media pages.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the match, as parking is limited due to ongoing construction. As such, the lot near the Hal Self Athletic Annex will be unavailable. Violators will be towed if parked in the construction zone.

Fans are encouraged to park in Lot O below the arena, the Science Building lot or in the parking deck across from the arena. Limited handicap parking will be available in front of the CB&S Bank Arena ticket office.

SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama is set for the home stand at 8-9 on the year and 2-2 in ASUN play. The Lions are returning home after a two-match road trip against Central Arkansas and Jacksonville. Last time in CB&S Bank Arena, UNA earned 3-0 sweeps against both Austin Peay and Lipscomb on Sept. 26 and 28 for its first two conference wins. North Alabama is 4-1 in home matches this season and have swept opponents in four of the five matches. The Lions lead opponents in kills (225-197), assists (208-184), aces (34-21), digs (248-239) and blocks (27-22) in home matches.

"SETTING" THE TONE
: Sophomore Kinslee McGowan is second in the ASUN in assists per set (9.82) and leads with 599 assists. The sophomore is also second on the team in digs (130) and service aces (18). McGowan is one assist away from achieving her 1,000th career assist.

KENDALL ON THE ATTACK!
: Junior Kendall Barnes leads the team with 210 kills. She ranks first in the ASUN in total kills and second in kills per set (3.50). Barnes' 234.5 points on the season ranks second in the conference for points per set (3.91). She set a career high earlier in the season with 21 kills against Alabama A&M.

ACING THE COMPETITION
: Junior Olivia Fenoff has been an ace on serve with 26 on the season. Her ace totals and 0.45 ace per set average is second in the ASUN.

RELIABLE RICKETTS
: Sophomore Reese Ricketts is second on the team with 173 kills and ranks eighth in the ASUN with 2.93 kills per set. Ricketts has contributed defensively with 124 digs (third on the team) and 21 blocks.

SURGING SARGENT
: Junior Nicole Sargent leads her team with a .352 hitting percentage. Her percentages rank her fifth in the conference, totaling 92 kills on the season. She additionally leads the team with 38 blocks.

GARNER'S GAINS
: Sophomore Dylann Garner has been making strides in year two with the Lions. She's third on the team with 125 kills and tied for second with 29 blocks along with freshman Jenna Kolosta. Garner exploded in the season's second match with 21 kills against SEMO on August 30.

CALLING ON KOLOSTA
: Freshman Jenna Kolosta has also had a solid start at middle blocker with a season stat line of 64 kills, 29 blocks and 17 digs. Kolosta earned her first career award on Sept. 8 with the ASUN Freshman of the Week honor.

DIGGIN' DEEP
: Junior Ava Martindale is making the most in her first season as the starting libero for North Alabama. She leads the team with 187 total digs and a 3.07 digs per set average.

AMONG THE RANKS
: UNA is ranked in the top 100 nationally in a number of individual statistics as of Oct. 8. McGowan is 12th in the NCAA in total assists while 40th in assists per set. Fenoff is 58th nationally in total service aces and 62nd in aces per set. Barnes is 91st in total kills while 100th in points.

MILESTONE LIONS:
North Alabama has seen several milestones achieved the season. Fenoff tallied her 50th career service ace against Grambling State on Aug. 30. McGowan registered her 500th career assist against Alabama A&M on Sept. 2. Head Coach Tristan Johnson won his 50th career match on Sept. 12 in a three-set home sweep over Western Carolina. Ricketts surpassed 500 career kills against McNeese on Sept. 19. Sophomore Lankford Gurner set a Division I program record with six aces against Lipscomb on Sept. 28.

SCOUTING STETSON:
 The Hatters are 6-10 on the season with a 2-2 ASUN record. Stetson split last weekend's matches, sweeping West Georgia on Oct. 5. Stetson is tied for first in the ASUN in blocks (2.36 per set) and second in digs (15.61) and opponent hitting percentage (.198). Zuzanna Bury leads the Hatters with 261 points and 227 kills on the season. Stetson's head coach is Yang Deng.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HATTERS:
The meeting marks the ninth all-time in the series history. The Hatters leads the series, 8-1, but North Alabama won in four sets on Oct. 20, 2024 for its first-ever victory over Stetson.

SCOUTING FGCU:
 The Eagles enter the weekend at 9-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play. FGCU took two wins in its home stand last time out with victories over West Georgia and Queens. They have won four-straight matches and six of the previous seven contests. The Eagles are third in the ASUN in both opponent service aces (1.37 per set) and scoring (16.89). Barbara Koehler has a team-high 210.5 points and 184 kills on the season. Koehler along with Abby Toeniskoetter were named the ASUN's Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, on Oct. 6. FGCU is led by Thais Baziquetto-Allen.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE EAGLES:
North Alabama and FGCU compete for the ninth time in the all-time series. The Lions look for their first win in the series this weekend.
