Volleyball to host North Florida Sunday for Senior Day

Lions set for regular-season home finale vs. Ospreys

FLORENCE, Ala. (November 1, 2025) – The University of North Alabama volleyball team hosts the North Florida Ospreys on Sunday, Nov. 2 for Senior Day inside CB&S Bank Arena at 1 p.m.

The Lions prepare for their final home game of the regular season in the battle against the Ospreys. UNA looks to send seniors Hayley Martin and Jolana Smidlova out with one final victory in "The Bank."

The match will be available for streaming on ESPN+, and live stats will be provided through StatBroadcast. Full results and a recap will be posted on RoarLions.com following the action, but fans can also follow along in real time on the UNA Volleyball social media pages.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the match, as parking is limited due to ongoing construction. As such, the lot near the Hal Self Athletic Annex will be unavailable. Violators will be towed if parked in the construction zone.

Fans are encouraged to park in Lot O below the arena, the Science Building lot or in the parking deck across from the arena. Limited handicap parking will be available in front of the CB&S Bank Arena ticket office.

NOTES


SCOUTING THE LIONS: North Alabama enters the home finale with a 12-12 record and 6-5 conference record. The Lions will look for a positive Senior-Day send off after falling in four sets to Central Arkansas last time out. UNA also looks to secure its eighth home win of the season and sixth home victory in ASUN play.

THE LAST DANCE:
Martin and Smidlova will be honored prior to the contest. Martin is the team's longest-tenured current member, joining the Lions as a freshman in 2022. In her four seasons, she's accumulated 320 kills, 55 digs and 53 blocks in 50 matches. Smidlova joined the Lions this season after three previous years at Tulsa. The Czech Republic native has 67 matches for her career while totaling 196 kills, 63 blocks and 54 digs.

"SETTING" THE TONE
: Sophomore Kinslee McGowan is second in the ASUN in assists per set (10.13) and leads the conference with 922 assists. The sophomore is also second on the team in digs (201) and service aces (26).

KENDALL ON THE ATTACK
: Junior Kendall Barnes leads the team with 323 kills. She ranks first in the ASUN in total kills and third in kills per set (3.59). Her 355.5 total points ranks first in the conference while ranking third in points per set (3.95). Barnes set a new career high with 31 kills against FGCU on Oct. 12. and tallied her 500th career kill on Oct. 29 against Central Arkansas.

ACING THE COMPETITION
: Junior Olivia Fenoff has 31 service aces on the season, ranking her sixth in the ASUN. Her 0.37 ace per set average is tied for fifth in the conference.

RELIABLE RICKETTS
: Sophomore Reese Ricketts is second in the ASUN with 294 kills and fourth with 3.30 kills per set. Ricketts additionally ranks sixth in the conference with 3.72 points per set.

SURGING SARGENT
: Junior Nicole Sargent leads the team with a .332 hitting percentage. Her percentages rank her sixth in the conference, totaling 139 kills on the season. She additionally leads the team with 56 blocks.

GARNER'S GAINS
: Sophomore Dylann Garner has been a spark for the Lions in year two, totaling the third most team kills with 181. She is also tied for third in blocks with sophomore Amelia Keating with 35. Garner tallied a career-high 21 kills against SEMO on August 30.

CALLING ON KOLOSTA
: Freshman Jenna Kolosta has 78 kills, 40 blocks and 19 digs in her first collegiate season. The rookie has been a force on defense, ranking second on the team in blocks. Kolosta earned her first career award on Sept. 8 with an ASUN Freshman of the Week honor.

DIGGIN' DEEP
: Junior Ava Martindale leads the team with 303 total digs and a 3.33 digs per set average.

AMONG THE RANKS
: UNA is ranked in the top 100 nationally in four individual statistics as of Oct. 30. McGowan is third in the NCAA in total assists while 30th in assists per set. Barnes is 44th in total kills while 58th in points.

MILESTONE LIONS:
North Alabama has had several milestones this season. Fenoff tallied her 50th career service ace against Grambling State on Aug. 30. McGowan registered her 500th career assist against Alabama A&M on Sept. 2. Head Coach Tristan Johnson won his 50th career match on Sept. 12 in a three-set home sweep over Western Carolina. Ricketts surpassed 500 career kills against McNeese on Sept. 19. Sophomore Lankford Gurner set a Division I program record with six aces against Lipscomb on Sept. 28. McGowan also set a Division I program record with 60 assists against FGCU on Oct. 12.

SCOUTING NORTH FLORIDA:
 The Ospreys are 9-15 overall with a 3-8 ASUN record. North Florida is 10th in the conference standings but are coming off a five-set triumph over conference leaders Jacksonville on Oct. 30. Kendall Newbold leads North Florida with 285 points and 245 kills. Yarimar Francis Garay is top 10 in two conference statistics, ranking eighth in hitting percentage (.315) while tied for seventh in blocks (1.01 per set). Sofia Dawson also ranks among the ASUN's assists leaders, averaging 7.15 assists per set to rank sixth. North Florida is led by Kristen Wright.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE OSPREYS:
North Florida leads the series, 7-1. North Alabama won its lone series meeting in a four-set home victory on Oct. 20, 2023.
