Volleyball clinches postseason berth despite loss at EKU

Lions to end regular season on Saturday at Bellarmine

RICHMOND, Ky. (November 14, 2025) – The University of North Alabama volleyball team fell to EKU on Friday in a four-set setback in Richmond, Ky. Despite the loss, the Lions clinched a postseason berth to the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship tonight following North Florida's win over Stetson.

UNA (13-15, 7-8 ASUN) opened the final road trip with postseason implications on the line, as a win or Stetson loss would clinch a tournament berth. Tonight was the regular season finale for EKU (20-8, 12-4 ASUN), as the Colonels ended on a senior day win and are locked in as one of the top four seeds for the tournament.

The Colonels were solid in the opening two sets en route to a 2-0 set advantage. EKU won the first, 25-11, and took the second set in a more competitive frame, 25-18.

The Lions began their rally with a third-frame win, 25-19, to cut EKU's set lead to 2-1.

North Alabama's service game played a key role for the Lions in the third. UNA's six service aces added to the 11-set kills. Service-ace extraordinaire Olivia Fenoff tallied three aces along with freshman Ally Greenwell. Junior Kendall Barnes provided five kills in the set with the match heading to the fourth.

North Alabama and EKU went back-and-forth in set four, highlighted by 10 tied scores and four lead changes. UNA took momentum first jumping out to a 7-3 lead, but EKU responded with a 7-2 run to retake the advantage at 10-9. The Lions took the lead back at 15-14 with both teams battling toward the sets end.

The frame continued to go back-and-forth until the 21-21 mark. The Colonels sealed the victory using a set-ending 4-0 run to take the match over North Alabama.

Sophomore Reese Ricketts led the Lions with 15 kills on the night. Barnes finished with 13 kills, and sophomore Dylann Garner was third in kills with seven.

Sophomore Kinslee McGowan had a match-high 35 assists and team-high 13 digs. Greenwell had a career-high four service aces followed by three from Fenoff. Ricketts and freshman Jenna Kolosta tied the team high with four blocks each.

The Lions will close the regular season and play for seeding at Bellarmine on Saturday. First serve from Louisville, Ky. is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
