NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 11, 2025) – The Atlantic Sun Conference revealed its 2025 All-Tournament Team after Sunday's championship final in Nashville. North Alabama was represented by junior Jacari Lane and senior Taye Fields.
The duo was instrumental in UNA's run to the championship final against No. 1 Lipscomb. The Lions dominated No. 7 Austin Peay in the ASUN Quarterfinal and advanced past No. 4 Jacksonville by a 78-63 final in the ASUN Semifinal. Both games were in Florence.
On Sunday, the No. 2 Lions gave top-seeded Lipscomb all it could handle, but fell in the final moments of the championship final by a 76-65 final. This marked UNA's second appearance in the ASUN championship game since moving up to Division I seven seasons ago.
Lane averaged 22.7 points over the three games, while Fields added 9.3 PPG and 9.7 rebounds.
In the quarterfinal round, Lane posted a 31-point performance with three assists, two rebounds, a block on the opening possession, a steal and just one turnover. The first team all-conference selection was 9-13 from the floor, 7-8 behind the arc and 6-6 at the line. He shot 87.5 percent behind the arc.
Lane went on to score 19 points against Jacksonville and 18 points against Lipscomb. For the tournament, he shot 21-46 for 45.7 percent. He also went 10-19 from downtown and 16-19 from the line. He had 10 rebounds and 10 assists and just five turnovers over the three games.
With 18 points against Lipscomb, Lane moved into fourth on the all-time scoring list at UNA. He passed UNA Athletic Hall of Famers Larry "Snuffy" Smith (1968-71) and Barry "Buck" Williams (1986-89). He has 1,482 career points. The three ahead of him are also in the UNA Hall of Fame.
Fields was a key weapon on both ends of the floor, specifically on defense in the win over Jacksonville matched up on first team all-conference selection Robert McCray. A second-team pick in his own right, Fields had at least eight rebounds in all three games. He finished with 28 points, 29 rebounds and 11 assists while adding six blocks and four steals.
While the block total says six officially, Fields factored into a lot more missed shots in all three games.
The Lions will await a potential postseason bid after brackets are announced for NCAA Selection Sunday on March 16.
