BATON ROUGE, La. (March 9, 2025) – The University of North Alabama baseball team dropped its final game of the weekend in Baton Rouge, La. against the No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers on Sunday, 11-5. Matthew Delgado went 3-for-4 with an RBI on the final day. 

The top-ranked Tigers started early with four runs in the bottom of the first. A walk on the opening batter and then a homerun next up scored the first two. A fielding error, a single to left field and then another single scored another. Delgado caught a Tiger that tried to steal at second but another run scored, leaving it 4-0.

The Lions battled back early as Jonathan Lane doubled down the right field line, then Nash Rippen walked. Delgado stepped up with his RBI where he singled up the middle. Petey Craska pushed Rippen to score after he singled to the left side, leaving it 4-2. 

Anthony Pingeton kept the second and third innings relatively quiet before a Tiger homerun in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-2. 

The fifth inning saw two singles from the Lions and scoreless inning for the Tigers as Dylan Morrill stepped to the mound. 

A bottom of the sixth homerun cleared the bases. The Tigers claimed six runs this inning, making it 11-2. The Lions added three runs over the last two innings. 

Pingeton, Morrill led the first 5.2 innings. Kyle Lewis and Gavin Oswald stepped in for the final 2.1 innings where they faced 10 batters with five strikeouts combined.
