FLORENCE, Ala. (September 26, 2025) – Basketball season is just over a month away, and the University of North Alabama basketball teams will usher in the new campaign with "Purple Pandemonium" set for Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. inside CB&S Bank Arena.
 
For the third straight year, the event will be presented by Mugshots Grill & Bar — located in downtown Florence.
 
Much like last year, Purple Pandemonium will tie into UNA's annual homecoming pep rally. The event is free of charge and open to the public, including alumni, students, faculty and staff. Fans are encouraged to come out, wear purple and support the football and basketball programs.
 
Head coaches Candi Whitaker and Tony Pujol will be on hand to introduce their coaching staffs and student-athletes. Fans can also enjoy — and even participate in — mini-games with the players. Games include knockout, a three-point competition and a half-court challenge, among others.
 
"Our student-athletes and staff are excited for another year of Purple Pandemonium," said Whitaker, who enters her second season at UNA. "This community loves UNA Basketball and enjoys homecoming festivities, so pairing those two together again will be special. Our program enjoys getting out in the community and engaging with our fan base, and we are excited to see everyone again at CB&S Bank Arena. Roar Lions!"
 
DJ Casper will be in the house to provide the music. In addition to Purple Pandemonium, head football coach Brent Dearmon will be on hand to speak to the fans ahead of the Homecoming football game. The candidates for Homecoming Court will be announced, and UNA's Promising Alumni will be recognized.
  
"We are incredibly excited to bring this event to our homecoming pep rally for a second consecutive year," said Pujol, who enters his eighth season at UNA. "Seeing our students and community pack the Bank is always special. We look forward to introducing the new additions to our team while welcoming back a lot of familiar faces. We are ready to see everyone at CB&S Bank Arena and our newly-named Gary Elliott Court on October 16. Roar Lions!"
