FLORENCE, Ala. (January 15, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's basketball team had one of its best offensive nights of the season, but North Florida one of its best offensive nights in the last few years in a 105-91 loss for the Lions on Thursday in CB&S Bank Arena.
In Atlantic Sun Conference action, the Lions (6-10, 1-4 ASUN) fell behind early but charged back with 55 points in the second half. UNA scored 91 points for the game, which is the most against any Division I opponent this season, shooting 56.3 from the field.
However, North Florida (3-15, 1-4 ASUN) came in motivated and stole a road win behind stellar three-point shooting. The Ospreys finished 17-37 from downtown, a new season-high in triples and good for 46 percent. Despite its record against a daunting schedule, UNF is the eighth-best three-point shooting team in the nation with 11.2 makes per game.
UNF was also successful at the line, going 18-19 for a near-perfect 95 percent. The Lions were 13-20 for 65 percent.
The game started with five ties and two lead changes, as sophomore Kevin de Kovachich made a contested layup to tie the game at 28-28 with 6:43 left in the first half. North Florida went on a 10-0 run the next two minutes to build a lead and held it the rest of the way.
Despite the loss, UNA outscored UNF in the paint by a 56-30 advantage. This is only the second time this season UNA has won the paint scoring category but lost the game. The other instance came against Stetson in the ASUN opener.
The Lions also had some other positives, including zero blocks surrendered and five blocks on North Florida shots. UNF only had a 33-32 advantage in rebounding, but UNA scored more second chance points (19-16). Turnovers were limited both ways with just nine for UNA and seven for UNF.
North Florida was boosted by perhaps the best opposing performance of the season, as Kent Jackson scored a career-high 35 points.
The Lions had four players in double figures, including 28 points and 14 rebounds from redshirt junior Corneilous Williams to tie a career-high in scoring. This marks his seventh double-double of the season and the second straight game with one.
Junior Canin Jefferson notched 21 points, while de Kovachich had 19 for a new season-high. Senior Donte Bacchus added 14 and went 6-8 at the line.
The Lions will look to close the two-game home swing on a better note Saturday, hosting Jacksonville for a Gold Rush Game at 2 p.m. inside CB&S Bank Arena.
