Jackson nabs second-straight ASUN Freshman of the Week honor

True freshman continues stellar run following game-winning shot at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE (January 20, 2026) – University of North Alabama freshman Gabby Jackson was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Jackson has been a standout for the Lions the past two weeks, and her continued run of form earns her a second-straight conference honor. The freshman helped North Alabama go unbeaten in bouts at North Florida and Jacksonville while averaging a near double-double. She also becomes the third UNA player in the past five seasons to win back-to-back ASUN weekly honors.

The Kansas City, Mo. native averaged 10.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the 2-0 week against the Ospreys and the Dolphins. She shot a solid 42.1 percent from the field but excelled from three-point range with a 75 percent shooting percentage (3-4). Jackson additionally totaled the team high in rebounds (17) to go with three steals and two assists.

She played a key role against Jacksonville, securing her second career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jackson made the play of the game, knocking down a go-ahead three pointer with 14 seconds to clinch the road victory.

Jackson and the Lions are set to face Queens next time out on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. in CB&S Bank Arena.
