Klauber and Whittle crack top-20 in UNA’s second tournament

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (October 13, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team concluded its second tournament of the season Tuesday, as the Lions finished fifth place at The Robbie hosted by Lipscomb at Temple Hills Country Club in Franklin, Tenn.

The Lions entered the final round in a tie with former conference mate Bellarmine and ended up winning the battle for a top-five finish. UNA — now representing the United Athletic Conference — edged the ASUN's Knights by five strokes in the final round.

UNA ended the tournament with final score of 945 (+81) with two rounds of 316 yesterday and a final round of 313 on Tuesday. The Lions now have back-to-back top five finishes this season after placing fifth of 14 teams in The Velvet Classic last month in Kentucky.

Redshirt senior Kerigan Klauber was UNA's top golfer this week, tying for 12th overall with a consistent card of 77, 77, 78 to finish +16 for the tournament. Just three strokes behind her was junior Olivia Whittle, who ended the final round with a team-best 76 on her card. Whittle finished par or better on 14 of 18 holes in the final round.

True freshman Celia Martinez Garcia and sophomore Kiersten Riggins both finished within the top 30 golfers, as Martinez Garcia finished +21 for the tournament and Riggins finished +27. Riggins improved every round, including a 79 in the final round.

Senior Ava Schwartz rounded out the lineup in 33rd three strokes behind Riggins.

UNA finished with 17 birdies while ranking among the top three teams in pars with 155. The Lions also had the third-fewest bogeys with 70. Martinez Garcia ranked second among all players on par-three holes for the tournament at -1 on those holes, including a pair of birdies and just one bogey on 12 opportunities.

Lipscomb won the tournament with a score of 862 (-2), going -13 on par-five holes for the bulk of its success. Tennessee Tech (900), Lamar (930) and Jacksonville (934) were the other three teams ahead of UNA in the top five. The Lions bested Bellarmine (950) and Tennessee State (997).

Lipscomb's Savannah Howell was the individual champion at 207 (-9).

UNA returns to action next Sunday at the Diamante Intercollegiate in Hot Springs, Ark.
