ARLINGTON, Texas (October 26, 2026) – University of North Alabama's soccer junior
Emily Dorfman earned United Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, announced by the league Monday.
Dorfman, a native of Atlanta, Ga., earned her fourth shutout of the season against Eastern Kentucky on Sunday. The junior keeper had four saves against the UAC Blue Division leader in the 1-0 decision.
Dorfman had several great saves but none better than a 41st minute leaping punch out from an EKU free kick. The ball, placed just outside the box, was sent at the top of the crossbar where Dorfman floated in mid-air to clear out the opportunity.
This was the first win over the Colonels in program history in eight attempts; the two have four draws, the most draws of any UNA opponent all-time. The Sunday afternoon win allowed North Alabama to clinch a berth into the inaugural UAC postseason tournament, as well.
This is the junior's first weekly conference award since joining the Lions ahead of the 2026 season. A transfer from ETSU and UAlbany, Dorfman was named to the America East Second Team All-Conference, All-Rookie Team and All-Academic Team in 2024 with the Great Danes.
Dorfman earned the fifth UAC Weekly Award for the Lions this season following forward
Anna Fugarino, defender
Avery Smith, forward
Charlotte Sobotka and the most recent, defender
Adelyn Speight. Fugarino, Smith, Sobotka and Dorfman are all first-time recipients of the award.
Prior to membership in the UAC, North Alabama spent eight seasons in the ASUN, accumulating 15 conference weekly awards over nine different players.
Alice Bussey and Payton Yates led all players with three weekly awards each.
"Emily was outstanding in goal this week," said head coach
Chris Walker. "Her performance was key to our win over EKU, and earning a clean sheet is a testament to her quality, composure and hard work. It's well deserved!"
North Alabama soccer closes out the season with two home games which begins on Thursday, Oct. 29 against Austin Peay at 7 p.m. at Bank Independent Stadium.
