BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (November 2, 2026) – The University of North Alabama women's golf team completed the fall season Monday at the Samford Intercollegiate at Inverness Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. with a sixth place finish.
UNA finished with a final stroke score of 947 to beat Bellarmine by seven strokes and Chattanooga by 29 strokes. Jacksonville State, Samford, UAB, Illinois State and West Florida rounded out the top five.
This concludes the fall season for North Alabama, who competed in five tournaments in the first half of the season. All seven members of the roster played in at least one tournament, including multiple tournaments for all three freshmen.
"The whole roster saw a lot of action in a variety of college golf conditions and set ups, which is crucial to our development as a team," said UNA head coach Neil Self. "We had a bunch of really solid rounds, but just as many got away from us. We'll learn from both and keep building for the spring."
UNA's top finisher in Birmingham was senior Ava Schwartz, who previously golfed in the area while playing at UAB two seasons ago. Schwartz finished tied for 22nd at +23, while junior Olivia Whittle finished tied for 28th at +26. Whittle had three birdies in the final round and remained the only player to score an eagle in the entire field after doing so in the second round yesterday.
True freshman Celia Martinez Garcia and fifth-year senior Kerigan Klauber both joined Whittle with the lowest rounds on the team Monday at 79. The rookie finished one stroke back of Whittle to take 30th place, while Klauber was only three strokes behind her in a tie for 34th.
Another true freshman, Ella Busby, finished in the top 30 with a final score of +25 to sit alone in 27th. Playing as an individual, fellow freshman Annalee Regan finished 46th at +41.
UNA will resume play on March 1 in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate.
