FLORENCE, Ala. (February 11, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's basketball team played another competitive matchup inside CB&S Bank Arena on Wednesday night, but West Georgia was able to halt off a potential second half surge for an 82-73 road win in Atlantic Sun Conference play.
Unlike Monday's game against Central Arkansas that involved 32 minutes with the lead, the Lions (7-17, 2-11 ASUN) trailed most of the way but kept it close until the final minute. This included a second half 7-0 run to cut the deficit to four with 9:37 remaining. Later, UNA cut it to 76-71 with 1:31 remaining — and momentum.
However, the Wolves (12-13, 6-7 ASUN) took advantage of a untimely foul call on UNA around the one minute mark and got a short floater from Shelton Williams-Dryden to stretch the lead and essentially put it out of reach.
Two Lions reached the 20-point threshold, including a new career-high for leading scorer Donte Bacchus. The senior forward scored 26 points on 10-16 shooting from the floor and 6-8 from the line. He added nine rebounds for a near double-double. He played 37 minutes and has scored double figures in six straight games.
Sophomore Kevin de Kovachich finished with a season-high 20 points and was just three shy of his career high set last season against Dalton State. This marks the 15th time a Lion has scored 20 or more points this season with six games from Bacchus. This is the first time this season for de Kovachich.
True freshmen Braylon Patton and Cortez Graham-Howard had notable performances, with Patton scoring eight points from the starting lineup. Graham-Howard had one of his best performances behind the arc, making all three attempts for nine points off the bench.
In a battle of the top two rebounders in the ASUN, UNA's Corneilous Williams went toe-to-toe with Williams-Dryden. Williams finished with nine boards, while the West Georgia rebound leader had 10 to go with 21 points.
Despite the loss, UNA finished with a 42-28 advantage in the paint with lots of help from Bacchus and de Kovachich. UWG went 10-20 behind the arc and shot 30-60 from the field to finish 50 percent in both categories.
This ends a busy stretch for North Alabama that included three games over five days.
Coming up next, the Lions will host EKU for a historic game this Sunday at 3 p.m. inside CB&S Bank Arena. The game will be nationally-televised on ESPNU, making this the first time a game inside CB&S Bank Arena will be on an ESPN linear network.
The first 2,500 fans will receive a free white T-shirt courtesy of CB&S Bank. Sunday's game is a "white out" as UNA fans are encouraged to wear white and bring the energy for a national audience to witness.
