ATLANTA (February 13, 2026) – The University of North Alabama men's tennis team dropped a fairly-competitive contest Friday morning at ACC opponent Georgia Tech with a 4-1 result in Atlanta.
North Alabama (2-5) gave Georgia Tech a battle from opening serve, pushing the Yellow Jackets (5-2) in doubles play. The Lions struck first with a win from court three, but two competitive matchups fell towards the Yellow Jackets from courts one and two.
UNA earned the first win in singles, but three-straight victories saw out the home win for Georgia Tech.
Senior Lachlan Brain, junior Alberto Altur and sophomore Samu Dominguez all came away with wins on the day. Brain and Dominguez tallied their second doubles victory of the season and moved to 2-0 as a pair. Altur earned his second singles win of the season after his opponent retired midway through set two.
Brain and Dominguez got the Lions started in doubles with a 6-2 triumph over Gianluca Carlini and Owen DeMuth. The matches from courts one and two were decided by two games, but the Yellow Jackets were able to fend off UNA for the doubles point. Richard Biagiotti and Jonathan Irwanto overcame Altur and Satoru Nakajima from court two, 6-4, before Christophe Clement and Hidde Schoenmakers held on to beat juniors Alex Despoja and Izan Orgiles from the top flight, 6-4.
Altur was able to bounce back in singles, claiming the first win in a 7-5, 3-0 match against Schoenmakers from court two that ended on a retirement.
Georgia Tech's Biagiotti responded from court six with a 6-4, 6-0 result over Nakajima. The Yellow Jackets earned a second-straight singles win after No. 122 Irwanto downed Dominguez in a 7-5, 6-2 battle from court four. The hosts clinched the dual after Carlini defeated Orgiles from court three, 6-4, 6-0.
Brain and Despoja's matches went unfinished, but Despoja had the advantage from court five over Elias Shokry. He pulled through for a 7-6 (7-5) win in set one and led 2-0 in the second before the dual's conclusion.
